Blackout at Autzen Stadium is just a rumor
The rumor has been swirling about a possible fan "blackout" (where Ducks fans wear all black) for the USC game at Autzen on Halloween night.
Today an athletic department spokeswoman confirmed the blackout is just a rumor. Kim Johannsen says the athletic department is actually asking fans to wear yellow since the bright color will show up better in the stands during the night game.
The UO bookstore is selling black t-shirts hyping the game, but that's simply in honor of Halloween, not because of a blackout.
Duck fans will be allowed to wear Halloween costumes at the game, and no doubt many die-hard Duck fans will be dressed up as ESPN's College GameDay broadcasts their weekly show live from Autzen.
GameDay's broadcast starts a 7 a.m. Kickoff for the game is at 5 p.m.

I'm wearing black and so is everyone else I know. Too late to start talking yellow.

I'm hoping the uniform combo is Black/Yellow/Black.

There will be plenty of yellow because thats about the only color that you'll find a poncho. It would be nice if someone could get a quick order of black ponchos... 50 gallon trash bags??

My solution - yellow hoodie to stay warm, yellow rain slicker/poncho (with hood) to stay dry, black shirt on top. Black shirt gets wet, but not I, and blackout is in (almost) full force (okay, my head and arms are yellow).
Go Ducks!

BLACK it is. Shirts on order. If it rains, oh well. Trash bags are a good idea

I hope one of the reporters looks at this and writes a story on it...

6,500 students organized to "black out" the autzen student section.....would be cool if the media would jump on board

the BLACK OUT is on, continue to spread the word.

they have been talking blackout for several weeks - too late to change it now
heard rumors ducks unis will be all black - can anyone confirm?

Official Kim:
Go back and talk to your peps at the U of O athletic department. Ask those, who are, '...actually asking fans to wear yellow...', and tell them to change their mind!!! Send out a press releace, make a statment change - something. Come on!, give the fans something to get more excited about! We're gonna look unorganized with black and yellow sprinkled all over the place!.. Change the official notice to say wear Black!!!! - Remeber Arizona!

i am wearing yellow. blackouts are for the oakland raiders.

Yellow? Are folks joking? Obviously it's time for the all black uniforms to be pulled out from their last dominant performance. It's Halloween, hello? Besides isn't yellow one of SC's colors anyway? The real Duck fans will be in Black, it only makes sense. Ignore UofO and local media pressure to wear what "they" think looks best. These are the same folks that dislike Oregon's tradition of new uniforms so often. They don't get't, it's 2009. Were the one's making noise ALL game. Wear Black, HowlOscream! Go Ducks!

Black out's are cool, but wouldn't a bright yellow out be very cool also? The athletice dept. people who are saying yellow looks better are correct. I think we all can agree that bright yellow shows up better than all black at night. It has nothing to do with the media not liking Oregons choices for uniforms. I think as long as most everyone is dressed in the same color it will be interesting.

Nice job. We've been thinking blackout for weeks and now some stupid woman is trying to change it, which will now cause confusion. I'm wearing black and I hope everybody else does too. Man this pisses me off.

BLACKOUT is ON. 6,500 students are on board, and there is no way they are changing their plans. I hope the rest of the fans come prepared, because this is just the way things are going down.
BLACKOUT '09

Yellow would be much, much more impressive.

I'm wearing black and I hope the Ducks do too. Hoping for it to be dry, but doubting it.
P.S. The person who said they're wearing yellow is LAME! Black out sounds bad ass to me.
Go Ducks!!!

I love how people say black wont show up well during the night.
1. kick off is at 5:15 so it wont be dark yet.
2. Umm stadium lighting.... have people not herd of "playing under the bright lights"? Black will show up.
3. it's freaking halloween. Buy a "fright night" T-shirt and go all black.
Next year plan a "Go Big Green" and release that the team will be in all green for a home game and have the fans do the same. It is the University of Oregon football, The most unique atmosphere in college football. Why start listning to what people think we "should" do now??
Go Black. Go Ducks.

You can buy cheap black ponchos. Why does everyone keep saying that ponchos only come in yellow? Umm...not last time I checked. Target has them in tons of different colors. Stop being such naysayers.

Normally, i love the yellow look, and yellow should be the standard color that EVERYONE should wear for all home games - EXCEPT for this one. It is halloweed for heaven's sake! This is the perfect time for a full on BLACK OUT!! The fact that the AD is not fully endorsing and encouraging a black out is LAME, considering how many people have already shown they want to do the black out. Perfect for Halloween, IMO. Either way, GO DUCKS!

Maybe our A.D. could take a page out of Boise's book. Check out their organization:
They plan the whole stadium's color option, and everyone follows it. An alternating YELLOW-BLACK-YELLOW-BLACK etc. look for each section in the stadium would have been BAD ASS! And Ducks could have worn black-yellow-black unis. But too late for that now..... oh well.....

This news organization(paper and TV) is the only one in the area that is not helping to support the blackout....KVAL does NOT support the community and its interests

If you don't think A black out looks freakin great on tv find some footage of when Georgia did it last. Black Black Blackout the night and let USC suffocate in a sea of DARKNESS!!

How about reporting some detailed news..........instead of this drivel ?
