Maude Kerns Art Center is proud to present “Drawn to Tell: Illustration Invitational 2010,” opening on Friday, April 9, with a reception from 6 – 8 pm.

The Art Center’s first Ilustration Invitational features ten Oregon artists selected for the quality and variety of their work: Alan M. Clark, Jan Eliot, Craig S. Holmes, Geoffrey McCormack, Larry McQueen, Don Prechtel, Angel Roman, Sylvia Seder, Mike Van, and Johanna Wright.

The Title Sponsors for this exhibit are Nancy Pobanz and David Wade. “Drawn to Tell” is on display through May 8.The National Museum of American Illustration defines illustration as “original artwork created to be reproduced in books, magazines, newspapers, and advertisements.”

For participating artist Alan S. Clark “illustration is any visual representation that initiates a narrative.” The artists in “Drawn to Tell” represent the gamut of the illustrative arts, from the science fiction, fantasy images of Alan M. Clark to Jan Eliot's Stone Soup comic strip, from the historical genre pieces of Don Prechtel to Larry McQueen’s fine art bird illustrations and the architectural illustrations of Craig S. Holmes.
