UO cheerleader charged with DUI, MIP

A University of Oregon cheerleader was cited on suspicion of drunken driving and minor in possession of alcohol Saturday night.

Eugene police say a bike patrol officer investigated after seeing 18-year-old Molly Maginnis hit the curb several times while trying to parallel park a black Chevy Equinox at Patterson and 18th in Eugene.

She has a court appearance scheduled for March 15.

According to GoDucks.com, "The Oregon Sports mascot and the UO Cheerleaders serve as official ambassadors for the University of Oregon and University of Oregon Athletic Department. The Cheerleaders and the Duck proudly represented the university and careful consideration is given on where, when, and why they makes appearances."

KVAL News called the Oregon cheerleading advisor to see if Maginnis faces any discipline because of the citation but has not heard back.
