Police suspect street gang of attacking people at parties
Crime, News

Police suspect a series of violent assaults in the West University neighborhood may be the work of an organized street gang that infiltrates college parties and attacks unsuspecting men and women.

The Eugene Police Department issued a press release Friday afternoon out of concern that "someone will sustain serious or life-threatening injuries."

Police think the gang involved is the Bloods.

Julie Brown at the University of Oregon said the school is planning on alerting students but hasn't sent out any alerts.

Police said they plan to up their presence in the West University neighborhood. Police also said they are concerned that potentially related crimes haven't been reported to police and asked victims to come forward.

In the past 2 weeks, police said a pattern has emerged from five seemingly random assaults.

In each case, a group of black men in their early 20s wearing street gang-type attire entered parties in the neighborhood and attacked men and women. One of the incidents happened at a nightclub.

Partygoers have reported a group of unknown men wearing red articles of clothing entering a party and attacking people at random.
